Q: Bob, no matter what I do, I can’t seem to earn more money. I know you say that this is somehow a “mental” thing. What am I doing wrong? -Tim A. Tim, you’re not alone – I have thousands of people ask me this question. In fact, it’s such a prevalent question that I devoted the first chapter of my book, You Were Born Rich to this very answer. Here’s what I initially suggest to immediately begin attracting the amount of money you desire: Picture yourself sitting in a room with several of your friends and announcing to them your intention of becoming wealthy – at least wealthy enough to live the way you choose to live. How does that make you feel? How would they react? If you’re like most people, you would probably feel very uncomfortable. You might even retract what you just said and tell your friends you were just joking. Understand, however, that people who are wealthy never feel uncomfortable when the subject of money is brought up. See, people don’t feel... Read More

Q: The bottom just fell out of my company and people here are being laid off left and right. I can’t even sleep I’m so worried. Would you have any advice on what you think I should do? -DeanneA: Yes, Deanne. My advice to you can be summed up in one word: Relax. ...And I’m not saying that lightly. When you are worrying, you’re choosing negative thoughts and those negative thoughts have only one direction to go – they will actually help create a bigger, more unfortunate result. It’s like the great sufferer in the Bible, Job, said: “Lo, the thing I fear has come to visit upon me.” Your worry isn’t going to get anything positive accomplished, Deanne. In fact, you will never witness any truly productive behavior expressed from a worrisome mind. Our minds are like magnets that draw unto themselves their own like, type and kind. Our “mental magnet,” then, is greatly reduced in strength by our worries and our fears, and our inflow of good will be slowly closed off or muted.... Read More

Q: Do you believe that you have to be over someone else even if you are still very heart broken,) before you can find another, or does finding another get you over someone else more quickly? -SandyA: You must create the space for the good you desire. Let the dead bury the dead. Let the past go. When you allow yourself to remain in a negative state – even for a few minutes a day – your body starts to break down. Your confidence begins to break down. You begin to forget what a wonderful, gifted and creative human being you really are. Forgive yourself – that’s right … forgive YOURSELF. If someone else has done something wrong or hurt you, don’t resent it. Let it go. Forgiveness is not something that benefits another person – forgiveness benefits YOU. You’re the recipient of the good when you forgive. When you forgive, you’re putting beautiful energy in your mind and you’re free to think great thoughts and keep on moving in the right direction. Look at this as a wonderful... Read More

I know – I might be the first one to be telling you this. After all, who ever thought discontent was a good thing? The fact is, discomfort or discontent with the way something is in your life is not a negative thing. If you really take a close look at the history of all progress, you will realize discontent is a very positive, creative force. When everything in life is running smoothly ... something most people long for ... we have a tendency to become very satisfied and quite often complacent. George Bernard Shaw said, "As long as I have a want, I have a reason for living. Satisfaction is death." It’s important that we never confuse happiness with contentment as there is a considerable difference. There is great reward in being happy with your accomplishments and lot in life … but you should never be content. The higher side of your personality is always for expansion and fuller expression! It was Edison’s discontent with the way in which we illuminated a darkened place... Read More

Q: Bob, I have this great idea for a new business and even have potential investors lined up to help get it off the ground, but when I talk about making the shift, all I get is people telling me I’m too old to “change horses” midstream and that I really need to keep doing what I’m doing. I can see their point, too, particularly as this might be a risk of a venture. Any suggestions? -Clay A: There are thousands of people who deny themselves an exciting life because of their age. They fail to act on their big idea because they think they are either too young or too old. It’s very sad, especially when you consider that life is much like a dollar bill; once you have spent it, you cannot spend it again. You should thoroughly enjoy your life and don’t permit age to hold you back. This is not a practice run – for as much as we know, we only get once chance. Be aware that age has very little, if anything, to do with ability. In the 40 years that I’ve been teaching and... Read More
