"This is a cold, garlicky soup. In fact it is never cooked at all! In Spain they use fresh almonds, just out of their shells, so the taste will be different than the soup you had in Spain unless, of course, you have access to fresh almonds. Variation: Use a medium sized yellow melon instead of grapes, sliced into finger sized pieces. Reduce garlic to 3 cloves, don't toast the breadcrumbs and use 1/2 lb. ice, delete the water."

"Best if cooking is started the day before serving. Boston butt is the easiest to make on a small scale. Use a shoulder or a whole shoulder (which is a shoulder plus the Boston butt) for larger crowds. The sauce skimmed off the top is very, very hot and can also be used to make terribly hot chicken wings."

"I use tender, mild halibut that we catch in Cook's Inlet near our home for this delectable white lasagna. Even 'meat and potatoes lovers' compliment its great taste. You can substitute cod or chicken for the halibut if you like. -Evelyn Gebhardt, Kasilof, Alaska"

"Use soy. No, use beans. No, use oats. No, use rice. Hey, why not use them all? This veggie burger is an alternative to eating its beefy cousin (and can be used together). It's high in fiber and as a stand alone patty, actually tastes pretty good. Once you layer the ketchup, the mustard, pickles, etc. you won't be able to tell the difference."
